About the event
The 2026 season of MUSIC CANVAS: Themed Concert Series opens with a brand-new theme: The Music Time Machine. This theme invites each performer to imagine traveling back in time, choosing a composer they would visit, and building a program inspired by that encounter.
The first invited performer Evan Chen, from Vancouver, Canada, is a winner of the 2025 San Francisco International Piano Competition. His recent work includes concerto performances with the Savaria Orchestra of Hungary and both solo and concerto appearances in Vienna, Austria. For this program, he brings together composers across several eras - Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Ravel, and Scriabin, using the idea of a time machine to place contrasting musical eras in direct dialogue.
